Autorenporträt
The author is a miner's son born in a mining colliery in northeast England. He enjoyed his time, 1947 - 1949, in the RAF. Allan qualified as a vet in 1954 at Liverpool University. The author then worked as a veterinary assistant until 1960 in Bridlington, Stockton, and Barnard Castle. He began his own practice in Peterlee in 1960.
