In the recent years, various studies and researches done in the field of Oral Pathology prove that a significant amount of attention has been drawn to the concept of epithelial dysplasia in an effort to better describe and predict the nature of tumor. Epithelial dysplasia is an evolving concept that not only identifies but also defines the behavior of cancer. although number of methods and grading systems have been suggested , still the reading of epithelial dysplasia remains subjective.Although dysplasia may be predictive, the histological assessment of dysplasia is notoriously unreliable with considerable inter and intra examiner variation in the histopathological diagnosis. Treatment of oral precancer is largely based on histological grading of epithelial dysplasia, despite the fact that this estimation is subjective. As research scope has increased and new avenues are also open more precise methods for reading epithelial dysplasia should be introduced so that it does not remain subjective anymore.
