Evangeline liebt die Märchen und Geschichten des Magnificent North und hat ein großes Herz, das jedoch gebrochen wird, als sie erfährt, dass ihre große Liebe Luc ihre Stiefschwester Marisol heiraten wird. Um die Hochzeit zu verhindern, schließt sie einen gefährlichen Handel mit dem Fate Jacks, den wir bereits in der Caraval Trilogie kennengelernt haben. Gemeinsam mit Evangeline und ihrer Stiefschwester Marisol reisen wir dann in den märchenhaften und magischen Magnificent North, wo Evangeline ihr Happily Ever After sucht. Ich mochte Evangeline richtig gerne, weil sie die richtige Mischung aus lieb und abenteuerlustig war und nicht auf den Mund gefallen ist. Sie behauptet sich auch gegenüber Jacks, was mir sehr gut gefallen hat, weil die Dynamik zwischen den beiden sehr spannend war! Jacks ist ein Fate, der Prince of Hearts, dessen Kuss für alle außer seiner wahren Liebe tödlich ist. Seine wahre Liebe haben wir schon kennengelernt, doch sie hat sich nicht für Jacks entschieden, sodass er Valenda mit einem gebrochenen Herz verlassen hat und gefährliche Pläne im Norden verfolgt. Jacks ist undurchschaubar, skrupellos und doch irgendwo fürsorglich und sehr charismatisch. Ich mochte ihn schon in der Caraval Trilogie sehr gerne und freue mich, dass wir ihn hier nun besser kennenlernen dürfen! Die Handlung setzt nur wenige Wochen nach "Finale" an und wir lernen mit dem Magnificent North einen neuen spannenden Schauplatz kennen. Stephanie Garbers Ideenreichtum konnte mich wieder begeistern, denn es war bildgewaltig und sehr magisch. Die Welt macht einfach richtig Spaß und auch die Handlung konnte mich mitreißen und auch überraschen! Ich bin davon ausgegangen, dass die Liebesgeschichte von Jacks und Evangeline im Fokus stehen würde, doch auch wenn es schon ein paar schöne Szenen mit den beiden gab, so ist Evangeline dem Fate noch nicht so zugetan und die Handlung entwickelt sich anders als ich erwartet hätte. Mir hat das aber richtig gut gefallen und ich bin echt gespannt, wie es im zweiten Band weitergehen wird! Fazit: "Once Upon A Broken Heart" von Stephanie Garber ist ein großartiger Auftakt ihres Spin-Offs zur Caraval-Reihe! Stephanie Garber konnte mich wieder einmal mit ihrem Ideenreichtum begeistern, denn es ist bildgewaltig erzählt und so märchenhaft und magisch, dass es mir viel Freude gemacht hat, mit Evangeline und Jacks den Magnificent North zu erkunden! Die beiden haben mir richtig gut gefallen und auch die Geschichte konnte mich mitreißen! Ich vergebe starke vier Kleeblätter und freue mich schon sehr auf den zweiten Band! Weniger
