Once Upon a Time is written in Persian/Farsi language. The book is a memoir about two long-distance bicycle trips vacillating between time and space. In early 1970's, when 22 years of age, the idealist author accompanied by his good friend, Reza, leaves Iran on a bicycle in order to explore the world. The trip is bound to end in India due to visa restrictions and after great disappointment. Almost 30 years later, the author completes the old but unforgotten dream. This time, he starts solo from Canada continuing to Mexico, crossing the USA, Europe, Middle East to finally end the trip at the exact place, in the city of Mashhad, Iran where the first journey began many years back. The book is a humorous description of the writer's experiences and encounters with people, places and cultures along the way to discover that people are essentially good, kind and more of the same than different everywhere.
