This work presents a review of storm impacts at Rio Grande do Sul coastal zone. Based on numerical wave models, issues on wave propagation in deep, intermediate and shallow waters until the total wave energy dissipation in the swash zone is discussed. Wave impacst at the shore during storm conditions, such as coastal erosion, flooding and damages do coastal structures and properties are also analised. These impacts present a great challenge for coastal manegement.
