In her debut memoir, Nicole Lusiani writes a tribute to those who came before her and a survival guide for those who come after her with her story of struggling against betrayal, anxiety, perfectionism, and a life driven by "Shoulds." An invitation to put down your mask and allow yourself a long exhale, this book signs your permission slip to stand tall in the light that was created just for you because, when we liberate ourselves to live in our light, we liberate others to do the same.

Autorenporträt
Nicole Lusiani is a writer, educator, podcaster, and mother. At the center of all these endeavors is a true knowing that there is no such thing as other people's children because we belong to one another. The work of Nicole's heart is writing. In 2010 her blog was her first foray into writing publicly, followed soon after by Skills I Wish I Learned in School: Building a Research Paper and The Wildflower Manifesto. She's the host of the weekly podcast, Copy Room Conversations, serving teachers in a way she hopes will fuel them and remind them just how important their work is. This is her first memoir. Nicole's day job includes work for the Center to Support Excellence in Teaching (CSET) at Stanford University and the Center for Culturally Responsive Teaching and Learning, where she focuses her professional development and instructional coaching on instructional equity. Prior to this, Nicole served as a public high school teacher for twenty years. Nicole's favorite thing to do is hang out with her teenage children and the family dog, the group of whom make up her strongest circle of love and Joyous Madness.
