This collection of essays constitutes a useful contribution to the dialogue on the critically vital Nigeria-China and Africa-China engagements. These relationships have continued to attract global attention, considering the impact of Chinese financial assistance and investment in the infrastructural development of the country, the dynamic and ever expanding trade relations and visible socio-economic and political impact of China, now the second-largest economy in the world. Accordingly, the authors are collectively optimistic that China offers Nigeria, a historic opportunity to address its many socio-economic and, hopefully, governance challenges. "The book provides a detailed, illuminating and comprehensive analysis of the 47-year story of the diplomatic relations between China and Nigeria ... focusing on China's economic activities and initiatives in Nigeria".- Professor R. A. Akindele, FNIIA
