Her extensive travels have allowed her to assist in the development and training of others in ministry. She received a Doctorate of Ministry from St. Thomas Christian University and Living Water Bible Institute besides a Masters of Religious Education from Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary. Apostle Joan Walker previously served as District Elder of the Midwestern Jurisdiction with Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies. Later she was consecrated Bishop in the Lord's church under the leadership of Bishop Sammy C. Smith of Grace Cathedral Christian Fellowship, Inc. on November 5, 2011. She was recently appointed National Mother of Grace Cathedral Christian Fellowship, Inc. June 26, 2014.
