The cover of this book is a copy of the mural I painted for my granddaughter Natalie, when she was 3 years old. It shows her standing between her dogs, James and Phoebe. Natalie is much older now and since she was very young, she has always loved animals. Two of my favorite pastimes are painting and drawing. After I finished the mural, I wanted to work on another project, but couldn't think of one. It was Natalie's beloved Grandfather, who suggested I write and illustrate a story about Natalie and the characters and scenes in the mural.
