Shirlylou grew up in the Midwest, was the youngest of three children, and preached her first message while attending high school in Marshalltown, Iowa. She combined her career in education with motherhood, and is blessed with a son, daughter and son-in-law, two granddaughters, grandsons, and a great-grandson. After widowhood, she realized God was opening doors for her to minister His love in new ways. Leaving classroom teaching intermittently, she has ministered God's Word from the pulpit in the States and other countries, helped teach reading and English on short-term mission trips, and helped provide food, clothing, school supplies, and encouragement in Mexico, Australia, Poland, Zambia, and S. Africa. She anticipates returning to the continent of Africa to fulfill a commitment in Zambia and S. Africa, and expects to again return to Australia, Poland, and other places as God calls. When home, she lives in the community of Red Lick, Texas, just outside of Texarkana, enjoying her grandchildren and family, sharing at various churches, and doing long-term substitute teaching. She is open to invitations for speaking at women's retreats, sharing God's Word behind the pulpit, and encouraging those who desire to experience short-term missions. Mail: P.O.
