Produktbeschreibung
Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) is an important legume crop as a protein source across the world. It is mostly grown on arid and marginal lands where it faces drought stress at different growth stages. An understanding of physiological and biochemical mechanisms for water stress tolerance is very important to develop the breeding material as for future need. Further, it is important to do these studies under water stress condition in chickpea. It is expected that the information can help to identify or transfer such mechanism through biotechnological tool to bred drought tolerant genotype in chickpea in future. Keeping this in view this book will carried out with the following objectives: i. To study the effect of PEG 6000 on germination and seedling growth in chickpea genotypes. ii. To study the effect of PEG 6000 on osmotically active metabolites and anti oxidative enzymes in chickpea genotypes. iii. To identify the physiological indices imparting drought tolerance at seedling stage in chickpea genotypes.
