Autorenporträt
Jason Zimmerman was born in San Francisco, California, but spent the majority of his childhood in Summit Valley, Washington, which is where he began writing stories in his head. Later he would begin to jot these stories down on paper, and he wrote his first full-length story in the seventh grade. He had several manuscripts and spoke often of publishing them children's books. Moments with Joey is the first of these books, and the first of several that will be published postumently. Jason was a third, fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade teacher in Provo, Utah where he won numerous awards for teaching excellence. He was a recipient of The Golden Apple, The Crystal Apple, was named the Provo School District Teacher of the Year, and was The Milken Teacher of the Year for the state of Utah. Jason loved teaching, and worked to create a safe, nurturing learning environment where he could help motivate kids to see the value of knowledge and hard work. When Jason wasn't in the classroom, playing his guitar, hiking the lonely vast deserts of southern Utah, or running his photography business, he was usually writing at his blog, Adventures & Misadventures of Daily Living. It is here that he archived various moments with Joey, photographs he'd taken, and posted personal insights to life and the everyday moments thereof. You can find these posts at: http: //teachinfourth.blogspot.com. He passed away in Sandpoint, Idaho on August 11th, 2012. He may have lost his battle with severe depression, but he lives on in the hearts of all of those that he touched.
