Yarn manufacture is a complex process affected by many parameters which include raw material properties, level of technology, machinery, skill of machine operators and the ambient conditions. Yarn manufacture is a complex process affected by many parameters which include raw material properties, level of technology, machinery, skill of machine operators and the ambient conditions. The ring spinning process is one of the most important staple fibres spinning process. Cotton on the other hand is a natural fibre that has found application in many textile products. Despite its wide application due to its favorable characteristics, cotton is inherently variable hence selection and processing of cotton is a complex process. The study of the relationship between cotton fibre and yarn parameters is therefore important. Moreover, the approach of applying statistical modelling, Monte Carlo simulation and Artificial Neural Network techniques in prediction of yarn parameters develops a new dimension in fibre-to-yarn modelling.
