The paper will equate if such treatments and current practices by the Correctional Services and the Administrations Justice in Papua New Guinea is in compliance with various National and International laws.The issue of abuse and mistreatment of prisoners is a topic of considerable relevance for the Papua New Guinea Law and Justice sector. The unique environments and the cultural diversity in which the Administration of Justice and other various government institutions operate are likely to confront these challenges with particular dilemmas that will require a range of funding's to mitigate the problems associated with mistreatment and abuse of Human Right.The paper will discuss the treatment of adult prisoners within Correctional Institutions in Papua New Guinea and will attempt to identify various theories as to why prisoners are punished, the paper will also attempt to address or identify some of the National and international laws that prohibits the use of torture and mistreatment in Correctional Institution, outline current issues on torture and mistreatment of prisoners within correctional institutions using articles, journals, reports and case laws.
