The present study dealt with isolation, characterization, and identification of some Candida strains resistant to antifungal drugs and how to overcome this resistancy. Eleven Candida strains out of 25 isolates were selected for their ability to tolerate the antifungal drugs: ultragriseofulvin, ketozole, lamisil and mixture of them grown on sabouraud medium. These strains were identified using API 20 C AUX yeast identification system as C. glabrata 1, 2, 5, 7, 9; C. albicans 4, 23; C. parapsilosis 10, 17, 20; and C. famata 11.The effect of some medicinal plants, disinfectants and probiotics on…mehr

These strains were identified using API 20 C AUX yeast identification system as C. glabrata 1, 2, 5, 7, 9; C. albicans 4, 23; C. parapsilosis 10, 17, 20; and C. famata 11.The effect of some medicinal plants, disinfectants and probiotics on the susceptibility of the eleven strains to the investigated antifungals was determined. There was a significant reduction in the resistancy of those strains by using some medicinal plants. The disinfectants and probiotics were similarly effective in drug resistance control. Effect of metabolic regulation of resistant Candida by vitamins varied according to the type of Candida strain and vitamins used. Each nitrogenous base was not effective on resistance, while mixtures of them were so effective in changing resistant Candida to sensitive.
