South Africa is one of developing countries which practices farming. The research aim was assess the methods used by small scale farmers to enhance soil fertility for crop cultivation, and impact on the surrounding environment, also preserve the quality of the environment for future generations while being economically sustainable. Questionnaires and non-participant observation were methods used for collection of information from a sample of 50 selectively small scale farmers. Microsoft Excel was the main analytical technique. The research established that the community was using several soil enhancing. Problem was no access to many types of soil enhancing methods except organic fertilizer. The fertilizers were not always available when needed because 75% of the farmers could not afford the required quantities of fertilizers due to limited funds. Many farmers had indigenous knowledge on how and when to apply manure such as was using seasonal cropping. In conclusion the use of several methods to enhance soil fertility is important because it gives high crops yield.
