Unprotected anal sex is among the numerous ways in which HIV and AIDS could be transmitted. Men who engage in sex with other men (MSM) are at great risk of contracting HIV and AIDS. To reduce the contraction of HIV among MSM, a drug called antiretroviral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) was introduced in different countries in the world. In response to the need for additional effective prevention methods, clinical trials were undertaken to test the safety and effectiveness of daily oral antiretroviral pre-exposure prophylaxis PrEP (Baeten, 2012). In Namibia, there was no evidence of existing policies and programmes or information systems at public and private organizations/institutions regarding the usage of PrEP. There was a lack of information regarding PrEP in Namibia. Hence, several questions arose about PrEP delivery in Namibia. Generally, PrEP has not been widely accepted among MSM, some men were convinced that PrEP decreases condom use, and increases sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
