Autorenporträt
Johann Gottfried Seume (1763¿1810), geboren als Sohn eines Bauern in Poserna bei Lützen. Nach Abbruch des Leipziger Theologiestudiums zwangsrekrutiert und als Soldat an die Engländer für den Krieg gegen die nordamerikanischen Kolonisten vermietet. Nach seiner Rückkehr erst preußischer Soldat wider Willen, dann erneut Student, schließlich Offizier in russischen Diensten. Nach Jahren als Korrektor im Verlag Göschen und Veröffentlichung vielgelesener Gedichte wird er mit den Berichten über seine Reisen durch halb Europa (»Spaziergang nach Syrakus«, »Mein Sommer«) berühmt.
