Produktbeschreibung
This book by Begum et al., describes the chemical constituents and biological activities of four plants Couroupita guianensis, Clausena heptaphylla, Clausena suffruticosa and Brunfelsia latifolia growing in Bangladesh. This book has eight chapters namely introduction, materials & methods, results & discussion, antimicrobial, cytotoxic & antioxidant activities, and summary. It will serve as a guide to the readers and scientists involved in studies of medicinal plants. The methods described, herein, will provide practical information about how to conduct chemical and biological screenings of medicinal plants. Extensive analyses of spectroscopic data of the isolated metabolites, notably high field NMR and mass spectrometry, allowed complete and unambiguous structural characterization of twelve compounds belonging to alkaloids, coumarins, limonoids and steroids. Moreover, the antimicrobial, cytotoxic and free radical scavenging activities of the plant extractives have also been highlighted. It is hoped that this book would be a useful guide to the students of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Botany, Microbiology and Traditional Systems of Medicines.
