This publication comprises eleven chapters, which try to explain the importance, content and justification of a mega project (Tren Maya) that the federal administration of the Mexican state is carrying out to definitively promote the development of the Mexican southeast, especially in the states of Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatan and Quintana Roo.The construction and operation of the Mayan Train is the main federal infrastructure project for passenger and cargo transportation as part of the expansion of the national railroad network. It will have 18 stations, a maximum speed of 160 km/h and an average speed of 120 km/h (74.56 mph); it will be a regional, tourist and freight train, with a length of 1554 km (965.61 mi) and a track gauge of 1435 mm (4' 81/2") (standard gauge).Like every important project, it has founded and especially unfounded questions, the fact is that it will fulfill an old dream of the southeast of Mexico and undoubtedly in the medium term we will see an economic growth first and its potential development in the long term.
