Emblica officinalis, or the Indian Gooseberry, is an important plant in the Indian systems of traditional medicine. It has many medicinal attributes and is an active ingredient in many Ayurvedic formulations. In this book, we discuss the protocol for micropropagation of Emblica officinalis through somatic embryogenesis. We also detail a study on the genetic variability of eight cultivars most commonly used in India.
