ABOUT THE BOOK AND AUTHOR Mansfield Park was written by English novelist Jane Austen (1775-1817) and was first published in 1814. Ten year old Fanny Price's impoverished family sends her to live with her wealthy aunt and uncle at Mansfield Park. This novel follows her development into early adulthood. Jane Austen was the author of six well known novels including Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814), Emma (1815), Northanger Abbey (1818) and Persuasion (1818). She also wrote Lady Susan (1871) and Love and Freindship and other Early Works (1790). Biographies about Jane Austen written by her family members include A Memoir of Jane Austen (1871) and Jane Austen, Her Life and Letters: A Family Record (1913). Many of her letters are included in a compilation in The Letters of Jane Austen (1892). Consagrada como uma das maiores romancistas da literatura inglesa do século XIX, Jane Austen, a autora de Orgulho e Preconceito, tinha apenas 21 anos quando escreveu esta história, em 1797. Jane Austen nasceu em Steventon, na zona rural da Inglaterra, em 1775. Era filha de um pastor da igreja anglicana, sendo que recebeu esmerada educação. Morreu em 1817, em Winchester. Suas criações literárias se destacam pela narrativa elegante, bem como pela ironia e pelos diálogos afiados e expressivos, características que têm atraído legiões de fãs de todas as idades e culturas.
