Aimed at local architects, heritage activists, and students, as well as international travellers, the book also brings together a great variety of contributors. Essays feature voices from the Philippines and from the Filipino diaspora, from academia and from internet platforms. Another special feature is that the buildings presented include some vernacular and non-canonical architectural works that are known in popular culture, such as the site of the Ali vs. Frazier 'Thrilla in Manila' boxing match.
Autorenporträt
Born in 1996 in Jakarta, Bianca Weeko Martin studied architecture at the University of Waterloo and worked at studios in New York City, Mexico City, and Melbourne. She is an independent writer, artist, and researcher based in Toronto, Canada, with a focus on place making, public art, and the Filipino diaspora. Her thesis research on her family's ancestral house, 'The White House', received the Alpha Rho Chi Medal and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Honour Roll.
