Evaluate land concessions of large tracts of customary land in conflict in the area around Kitshanga in order to improve land governance and increase social cohesion. Land conflicts are fueled by the phenomenon of more land for the minority and less land for the majority of the population. Densely populated areas have repeatedly sparked and fueled very violent conflicts involving armed groups. The conflicts are focused on a mobilization around ethnic identity that is closely linked to a mobilization around access to economic resources, political power, and especially land that has its origins in the political and economic past of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Due to the war and the weakness of the State as well as the so-called land law, certain dignitaries acquired land concessions in this area without respecting either the procedure or the requirements related to the compensation of the former workers of the said concessions. To elucidate, to understand the land conflicts around this problem of the concessions and to propose tracks of solutions for a peace.
