After separating from its neighboring town Chesterfield in 1842, the area attracted German Lutheran settlers with its level land and rich soil. Over the years, Macomb Township has become one of the fastest growing communities in the county. Good schools and beautiful parks have been added along with a new township complex, a recreational center, and a public library. Created by settlers wanting greater connection to neighbors and friends, Macomb Township continues to offer that same type of close-knit community.

Linda Osborne Cynowa lived in Macomb Township for 27 years. Linda has a background in photography and genealogy and a lifelong love of history. She volunteered with the Romeo Community Archives, researching the many historic homes and families in the Romeo and Washington area. This work led to a keen interest in and knowledge of its history. She is also the author of Washington Township, published in 2019 by Arcadia Publishing.
