"Love Letters to Ukraine from Uyava" by Indian-American poet Kalpna Singh-Chitnis consists of sixty-eight wartime poems in English on the current Russia-Ukraine armed conflict. The poetry collection has also been translated into the Ukrainian language titled ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿ ¿¿¿¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿¿¿ by Volodymyr Tymchuk, a Poet, Translator, and Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The entire collection was written and translated, mostly in real-time, only in eight weeks. The poems in this book are meant to create bridges in the hearts of the readers to connect with Ukraine and allow the world to see its heart longing for love, peace, and freedom. "What I particularly cherished in this collection, was the adroit method of combining an appreciation and empathy for a foreign country, alongside Singh-Chitnis's own heritage and country of origin (India). Perhaps only a polyglot, having lived in multiple countries, with the intentional wisdom of such multiculturalism, can pen such solace. Singh-Chitnis is one such social justice warrior, with her legion of creative directions, her purpose outgrows the ordinary and becomes extraordinary. She is not a mere empath but directly doing battle for others to see inequity and injustice and act. Kalpna Singh-Chitnis is a Pushcart Prize nominated, award-winning Indian-American poet, writer, filmmaker, and author of four poetry collections. Her works have appeared in notable journals such as World Literature Today, Columbia Journal, California Quarterly, Indian Literature, Silk Routes Project (IWP) at The University of Iowa, Stanford University's Life in Quarantine," etc. Her works have been translated into fourteen languages. Poems from her award-winning book Bare Soul and her poetry film "River of Songs" have been included in the "Nova Collection" and the "Polaris Collection" Lunar Codex time capsules going on the Moon with NASA's "Nova-C lander missions to Oceanus Procellarum" in Spring 2022 and "NASA VIPER" rover mission to the Lunar South Pole in 2023. Kalpna's poetry has received praise from eminent writers, such as Nobel Prize in Literature nominee Dr. Wazir Agha, Vaptsarov Award, and Ordre des Arts et des Lettres recipient Amrita Pritam, and poet and Academy Award winning lyricist, and filmmaker Gulzar. A former lecturer of Political Science, Kalpna Singh-Chitnis is also the Editor-in-Chief of Life and Legends, the Translation Editor of IHRAF WRITES, and an Advocacy Member of the United Nations Association of the USA.
