John Milton Scanland (1843-1935) was an American journalist, writer and editor. He was an editor of the Natchitoches Spectator, a Democratic newspaper. In 1908, in El Paso, Texas Scanland published a biography of Pat Garrett, the New Mexican sheriff who killed Billy the Kid.
