Autorenporträt
Rarely seen without a pencil or pen in hand, Katherine loves to compose stories and illustrations that stretch the imagination. She enjoys playing with the sounds and shapes of words, while pairing those words with engaging illustrations. Katherine especially likes the picture book genre, where each turn of the page brings new surprises. A former elementary classroom teacher, Katherine's goal as an author and illustrator is to create fiction stories that encourage problem solving and inventive thinking, and can be used in a variety of ways to enhance classroom curriculum. She believes that when children relate to the story characters and situations, they become part of the story themselves. As a natural outcome, the content introduced in the book becomes part of the child's own understanding. Katherine has a B.A. in Education and M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. She is a member of SCBWI. Katherine has created illustrations for several product labels and logo designs. Her story illustrations for "Frani And The Little Red Fox" can be seen on many children's educational websites. "Lewis and Clark, Come Home Before Dark!" is Katherine's first published book. When she's not working in the studio, Katherine enjoys taking yoga and kickboxing classes, watching movies, and playing marimba duets with her husband. They live in Cincinnati, have two children, and one Sheltie dog.
