Leadership in sports is aimed at enhancing the motivational state of the individual through athlete's motivational process. The model of motivation for application in the athletic context is based on the assumption that the individual is motivated to participate in athletics because he/she values the rewards of such participation and has some beliefs about obtaining those rewards. Mostely, excellent coaches-leaders - give the team a vision, and know how to translate this vision into reality. Coaches, in their leadership roles, seek to develop an environment whereby the coach and every athlete has the maximum opportunity to achieve success, and in doing so achieve team success. In recent years the research on sports leadership has played an important role in the field of sports and games. The basic method in this research was to assess relationships between coaches' behaviours and their player's evaluative reactions, train the coaches to improve their behaviours, and evaluate the effects of these changes on a variety of player outcome measures.
