Latino Boxing in Southern California is the essential sequel to Gene Aguilera's first book, Mexican American Boxing in Los Angeles. Aguilera, born and raised in East Los Angeles, is a University of Southern California graduate, bank vice president, songwriter, and East Los Angeles music historian. In the Aguilera household, Saturday night boxing is a must-see at home; in addition, his lifelong passion to the sport has earned him awards and induction into several boxing hall of fame societies. For this book, Aguilera excavated his preserved boxing ephemera (posters, magazines, programs, photographs, and flyers) to ensure the boxers' legacies will never be forgotten for generations to come.
