Mercedes Guerrero (Aguilar de la Frontera, Córdoba, 1963) es diplomada como técnica de empresas y actividades turísticas y ha dirigido distintos negocios relacionados con el sector antes de emprender, en 2010, su carrera como escritora. Gran lectora y apasionada de la historia, sus narraciones destacan por las experiencias y los sentimientos de los personajes, además de una visión amena y dinámica del contexto histórico en que se desarrollan. Tanto su primera novela, El árbol de la diana (Debolsillo, 2010) como Las sombras de la memoria (Debolsillo, 2015) son lecturas prescriptivas en Francia para los estudiantes de español. También es autora de La última carta (Debolsillo, 2011), La mujer que llegó del mar (Debolsillo, 2013) y Sin mirar atrás (Debolsillo, 2016). En 2020 publicó El baile de las marionetas, obra con la que su carrera despegó meteóricamente, pues arrasó en las listas de best sellers de plataformas online y que suma más de doce ediciones y miles de lectores.
