Kristopher-with-a-K Koala's life is in turmoil. His grades have slipped, he is angry and is acting out at school. Ms. Kanga, the principal, introduces Kristopher to a group. Kristopher learns by being a part of this group that he is not alone or responsible for his parents' divorce. He also meets new friends who feel quite similar, for one reason or another. As a group they work towards realizing that this sadness and anger is temporary and will dissipate as they heal and become happy again with the help of the Rainbow's organization group. While this book's story is able to stand alone, it is intended to help children learn about this very important organization that children can turn to when they most need help dealing with life's hardships. The story is told with an upbeat ending-or should I say, a new beginning!
Autorenporträt
Lynda Giles is a self-taught artist/instructor, confident in herself and her God-given talents, and eager to pass on all she can. She sympathizes with her students with learning handicaps, such as dyslexia and ocular dominance, assuring them that perseverance, passion and self-confidence will spell opportunities. "I can't" and "I'm not good enough" are simply not in her vocabulary. She feels that to start a sentence with either of these is to close a door, and that giving something a shot is the best way to open new ones. Thanks largely to this philosophy, Lynda has been a speaker at several "Words on Work" and Career Centre functions. Lynda's career as an artist is a long hallway full of open doors. She's completed commissions, created murals, competed in juried shows, and instructed many an aspiring artist. Senior homes, parks and recreation departments, and both the local public and separate school boards, have all hired Lynda as an instructor. After becoming a facilitator for "Rainbows Canada," Lynda was inspired to create this book, an extension of the organization and its aims.
