Lafcadio Hearn (1850-1904), also known by his Japanese name Koizumi Yakumo, was a writer of international renown who found his muse in the culture of Japan. Born on the Greek island of Lefkada, Hearn emigrated to the United States in his teens, where he began his foray into journalism.
