For the Kickstart Music series David worked with his former colleague and music adviser Anice Paterson, who initiated and inspired the original iteration of these materials.

David Wheway has been a primary and secondary teacher, worked in music advisory and is currently a senior lecturer in education. His music focus has been ways to support the generalist class music teacher, and to this end he has published many support booklets on basic classroom activities and projects in music across key stages 1 and 2 of the UK curriculum.
