Cathedrals of Work Historical Industrial Architecture in Germany (Text: German - English) 200 years of industrial history in Germany have left a legacy of architectural monuments many of which are so imposing in their sheer size that observers are moved to refer to them as "cathedrals of work". Nowadays increasing numbers of these monuments are being listed as historic buildings, as awareness grows of what an important part of our cultural heritage such relicts of the industrial past represent.
