Bob Walklett's story begins when he volunteered for the British armed forces in 1943 - during WW2. He served with 6th Airborne Division, and was involved in the Ardennes battle, in Belgium, later known as The Battle of the Bulge. His next assignment was Operation Varsity, on the 24th March, 1945, when 6th Airborne Division, along with the 17th American Airborne Division, made their airborne assault over the River Rhine, in West Germany.
