Practising as a lawyer poses no problems when done alone, but when done in a group, problems arise. This is what prompted the Congolese legislator to set down in writing the different types of groupings and the way they operate in Ordinance-Law no. 79-028 of September 28, 1979, on the organization of the bar, the body of legal defenders and the body of state representatives. Working together enables progress to be made in a different way from working individually, and allows for other confrontations, other ambitions and other forms of exchange. The success of a team depends more on the shared pursuit of a high standard of performance than on activities that encourage group dynamics, special incentives or charismatic leaders. Successful teams are often found to have been formed without support from the authorities.
