Jaxson Bear goes to Black Belt is a great conversation sparker. Reading this book to your child will inspire valuable insights into your child's truth. This book deals with perseverance, determination and, most importantly, helping our children with the fear of failure. As parents, we want to start talking and thinking about Jaxon Bear's issues as he takes his junior black belt test. Remember, the premise of this book series is to read the story as you come across a word or concept that is out of your child's vocabulary range. Stop reading and spark conversation. A good example is how I would help the students at the Taekwondo club when helping them with the fear of failure. We don't quit when we are just learning to walk and fall. We get up and try again and again, and soon we are running around the block. We could use this example to help our children understand that learning is a series of failures. As parents, we should make an effort to lose the stigma of failure. Someplace in our child's short life they stop trying because of fear of failure. It limits a child's growth potential. Starting early and taking every opportunity to get OK with failing can have long-term benefits in our child's life.

For several decades, Adam Forest has been collecting stories from actual classes he has taught. As a Taekwondo instructor, Master Forest believed-and still believes-that the most important skills he could instill in his students were respect and discipline. In his more than 30 years of teaching Taekwondo, Master Forest watched countless children grow up. He received feedback from many grateful students who thanked him for lessons well taught. As an instructor, he could see the real-world benefits of focusing on the mental side of Taekwondo paying off. The results were gratifying. Many students became leaders in the classroom, and we noticed a significant uptick in grade-point average at school.Master Forest relied on the oldest method of teaching in his Taekwondo class: storytelling. Using storytelling as a means of teaching lessons has been proven to increase the retention of information and lead to better understanding. Now Instructor Forest has created a series of storybooks based on his experiences that you can use to spark discussions with your children on many real-life topics. As you read each book, you can pause and ask questions that will start the dialogue. Please visit our website: www.adventuresofwiseowl.com. We have many stories to share and tips on getting the most value from our series. Let the adventure begin!
