Autorenporträt
Paul Oskar Kristeller, born 1905, has received doctorates in the field of philosophy from the University of Heidelberg (1928) and the University of Pisa (1937). In addition, he holds many honorary degrees. He has taught in Florence, Pisa, Yale and finally, Columbia University where he rose from associate in philosophy to professor and was appointed in 1968 F.J.E Woodbridge Professor before retiring in 1973. He has published numerous books and articles on almost every aspect of Renaissance thought and remains the foremost living historian of Renaissance thought and philosophy.
