The purpose of this research was to know the therapists' discourses about schizophrenia and therapy, from a critical perspective, in order to account for the discourses that act in these processes and how they are articulated among them. The objectives were achieved, evidencing the social problems that cross the phenomenon of schizophrenia and that determine the therapist's position regarding it. On the other hand, the analyzed material allowed us to discuss about power relations, historical background, political situations and ideological perspectives that are present in the discourses: What is the origin of schizophrenia? What is the problem of madness? Who is mad? The use of the category "schizophrenia" is not accidental. It shows that in the face of highly complex phenomena experienced by some subjects, the psychiatric medical discourse imposes its way of naming and explaining them, proposing solutions that, according to the therapists themselves, are stigmatized and insufficient.
