This study was designed to explore and determine the possible role of Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy in the management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Chiropractic as a highly effective,non-invasive, hands-on therapy and it's effect on the neurophysiological balance of an individuals' nervous system has always fascinated me. As a Chiropractor I hold the modality in very high regard. Irritable Bowel Syndrome had long been a conundrum as general treatment results have been very disappointing as no convincing evidence of any specific treatment modality, drug or dietary regime has reduced morbidity nor significantly affected the clinical course of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. The statistically significant improvement in the Global well-being, Quality of Life and significant decrease in the symptom frequency and bothersomeness is very encouraging indeed.
