The damage caused by cyberattacks through the Internet of Things (IoT) devices on individuals and medium-to-large IT firms has made it necessary for researchers and cyber security specialists in the field of Information Technology to be more motivated while conducting studies regarding the risks of cyberattacks. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of cyberattacks on IoT devices. This research study aims to understand the various network protocols and to build up measures on how to mitigate or prevent any form of cyber-attack on IoT devices. In this study, research papers and case studies were mainly used to sort for information from different scholars on IoT and gather information from different researchers. This research employed a case study because of its flexibility and its ability to provide in-depth information. The findings of this research mainly reflected those effective countermeasures to deter cyberattacks are highly substantial, and thus strict measures are required to be taken to implement protective tools such as Cloud computing along with encryption techniques to prevent cybercrimes.
