Demand for soybeans for the food and feed industry continues to increase, while domestic soybean production tends to decline, so the shortfall still has to be imported. To reduce dependence on imports as well as special efforts on soybean self-sufficiency, the government continues to strive to increase soybean production through various policies and programs, both intensification and extensification, accompanied by breakthroughs in technological innovation. In recent years there has been a decline in the planted area for soybeans due to the low competitive and comparative value of soybean crops. Expansion of the soybean planting area is not possible so that efforts are needed to increase soybean production, among others, through the cultivation of sugarcane and soybean intercropping. Sugarcane and soybean intercropping is one way to expand the planting area of soybeans and an effort to increase soybean production through plant intensification and diversification by utilizing empty space in sugarcane cultivation.
