The advantages and disadvantages of attribute list based AOS compared to expert system based AOS are discussed. The problem of organizing the process of solving the problem under study is solved and different variants of this organization are considered. The compilation of knowledge with preservation of the explanation mode is discussed. The structure of an instrumental AOS (which allows to change the content) and the structure of a special AOS with an embedded knowledge base for the study of a particular method are considered. Particular attention is paid to the organization of the dialogue with the user. Completed and incomplete processes to which the user has to give an answer are considered. It takes advantage of the fact that the checking procedures know the correct answer, which in turn allows the user to take advantage of the system's prompting with an appropriate penalty. The book is intended for beginners and potential AOS users and developers.
