Autorenporträt
Nellie Shaw Harnar was born in Wadsworth, Nevada located within the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation and grew up as a fluent speaker of the Numu language where she learned the traditions and history of the tribe from the elders. She attended the Stewart Indian School as a young child and went on to receive her master's degree in teaching from the University of Nevada, Reno. As a teacher at the Stewart Indian School, she helped Indigenous students learn about their culture while also being an active member of the community.
