This book aims to present important aspects of the lifestyle of the inhabitants of Tirana over the centuries. The main objective of this study is to highlight and describe some aspects of lifestyle and important ethnocultural phenomena such as: traditions, customs, social and traditional compactness, apartment architecture and function, traditional clothing, foods as well as adapting these traditional phenomena to new forms, as a result of the changes that have occurred over the centuries from various conquests, movements or internal migrations of the population, to the present day. The study of the important aspects of traditional culture during the twentieth century, in Tirana, aims to show the efforts and sacrifices of the inhabitants of this province to build a separate ethnocultural identity, highlighting the wealth that has preserved in the field of popular culture, which is reflected in the phenomena of material, social and spiritual culture, customs, traditions . These assets of the traditional and modern type, which have undergone a strong inter twining during various historical periods, became more evident during the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century.

Dr. Manjola Xhaferri is a lecturer in the Department of political Science at Aleksandër Moisiu University of Durrës. She holds degrees from the University of Tirana, Faculty of History and Philology (DIND History), the University of Tirana, Faculty of History and Philology (MSc History) and Albanology Study Center (PhD Ethnology and Folklore).
