Food insecurity Vulnerability is predominately a rural phenomenon with extra 32 percent of rural families spend greater than 65 percentages in their expenditure on food compared to 18 percentages of their urban counterparts CSA 2019. The objective of the study is to assess impacts of Ethiopian Red Cross Society food security project on welfare of households in Menz Gera Meder woreda. The project was implemented in 2015 G.C. The study method is a household based cross-sectional study carried out a census collected from 135 beneficiary and 157 non-Beneficiary households. The study findings showed that the food security project has brought a positive impact on average monthly income, saving, animal income, livestock holding score, household dietary diversity and household food consumption score. It is recommended that ERCS and other NGOs should expand food security projects to other rural kebeles of the woreda and other food insecure rural woredas of the country to narrow the gap of food insecurity.
