Functional benchmarking has a significant effect on product performance, but needs to be improved upon because a moderate relationship exists between them. Benchmarking in manufacturing organisations will ultimately result in positive gains. Managers of manufacturing organisations should intensify the practice of benchmarking and continuous improvement, in the pursuit of Product Quality. Defect rates and products deterioration can be improved upon; management should provide more funds to help copy and replicate and improve beyond competitors' performance in terms of best-practices and best-processes.
