Hans Vermeulen is an anthropologist and Co-director of Research of the Institute for Migration and Ethnic Studies, Universiteit van Amsterdam. Joel Perlmann is Senior Scholar at the Jerome Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, and Levy Institute Research Professor at the College.
