The concept of identity is becoming more and more important in today's world. While globalisation on the one hand is playing a fundamental role in bringing different peoples, cultures and societies closer by building cohesive communities that surpass national boundaries, on the other hand the issues of race, religion and ethnicity are gaining prominence in national and international discourses. The book explores Catalan identity as represented in Spanish director Bigas Luna's film La teta i la lluna (Tit and the moon). Catalan identity is approached through a variety of socio-cultural vectors or elements that shape modern Catalan identity as displayed in the film. It also examines whether Catalan identity is absolute or whether it is composite. This work also discusses the importance of the audio-visual medium of films, which have deep impact on all the segments of our society. The book also explains 20th Century political developments in Spain and how they were conducive to contemporary media representations. Autorenporträt

The author has done his under-graduation in Hispanic studies from the University of Delhi, India. He did his Masters Mlitt on EU funded Mundus fellowship from St Andrews University (UK), Université de Perpignan Via Domitia (France) and Universidade Nova de Lisboa (Portugal). The author is currently teaching Spanish in the University of Delhi.
